Why an Accredited Program?
Questions prospective students should ask before making such a serious investment
If I enroll in this program or course what are my odds of making it all the way through, and
After this course or program, what will my job prospects be like?”
Examples on why accreditation for both schools and credentialing bodies matters.
What is the academic rigor?
What are the outcomes of students?”
Courses and Programs can be tricky, mainly because a course or program can (sometimes) mean absolutely nothing. Example: An online course offers a surgical technician program certification, But the certification doesn’t mean anything and is not required to work in some states as a surgical tech. Literally all it means is you went through the website’s training course and it says you passed the course. That’s it. It’s not a license, it doesn’t add anything to your resume or any credibility.
Some online courses even go as far to partner with accredited institutions to issue a certificate of completion misleading the student to believe, they have now received a certificate of completion from the accredited school, but in actuality it only means you completed the course.
That said, students’ need to determine if a school is an accredited Program, Accredited courses, and if the certificate or certification they hand out are just saying you passed their course, or is the actual course or program accredited.
